The professional supervisor must be a good manager. However,
they also have skills and knowledge in other business disciplines.
Some of these disciplines are mandatory, such as safety. Others
are useful, such as a little bit of knowledge in finance and
industrial engineering.
Managers often need a good understanding of quality. Most
every company is concerned with quality. Some have six sigma
programs. Others have ISO 9000 or TQM.
